In September I visited my parents in Lincoln and took the opportunity to walk the castle walls for the first time.
It was a glorious day and I was very lucky to see the iconic poppy sculptures, which are touring the UK in honour of those who lost their lives in World War One.
As part of the First World War Centenary this thought provoking sculpture is being installed in places which have a particular First World War resonance. Lincoln was a major centre for the manufacture of weapons and munitions during the First World War, so the wave was installed at the recently restored castle, with its far reaching views across the city.
I hope that you are lucky enough have the opportunity to visit the sculpture near to where you live as it tours the country. It is a poignant symbol of Remembrance for those who lost their lives for our freedom.
